Breaking the Cycle,
A Post Bariatric Journey of Strength and Resilience.
At 35 years old, this patient knew she was battling more than just numbers on a scale. She was fighting a family legacy of obesity. Nearly all of her siblings had undergone bariatric surgery. While she and one brother had managed to make lasting improvements, the rest of her siblings eventually regained most, if not all of their weight, returning to their pre-surgery sizes.
Determined not to follow the same path, she committed herself to a healthy, balanced lifestyle. She exercised regularly, ate portion controlled and nutritious meals, and stayed mindful of her habits. Despite all her efforts, she struggled with weight regain, a common and deeply frustrating issue post bariatric surgery.
Frustrated but not ready to give up, she came to our clinic looking for answers, recommended by her acquaintance. During her initial visit, our team conducted a comprehensive assessment, including body composition analysis and a full review of her medical and family history. We acknowledged the biological and genetic factors at play and discussed medically supported options to complement her already strong lifestyle habits.
Together, we decided to begin treatment with Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) in late 2024.
Since starting Mounjaro, she has successfully lost 15 kilograms. More importantly, she reports feeling re-energized, both physically and emotionally. With this renewed sense of strength, she’s been able to continue her physical activity with more ease and confidence, and she’s staying ahead in her long term weight maintenance journey.
This story speaks to post-bariatric patients, especially those with a strong family history of obesity, who are doing everything right but still facing uphill battles. Genetics, metabolism, and long term hormonal changes often make weight maintenance more complex than diet and exercise alone.
With the right medical support and a personalized approach, sustainable success is absolutely within reach. This patient’s story is proof that breaking the cycle is possible, even when the odds seem stacked against you.
